RAN Contractor Data Compact v1
RAN Intelligence is built to know what is changing around a commercial roofing contractor. A contractor does not have to give RAN its operating history to receive market intelligence.
Effective September 2, 2026
Ordinary use of RAN does not turn a contractor into an undisclosed data supplier.
Boundary 01
External industry intelligence
RAN may collect, normalize, connect and interpret information from public, licensed and editorial sources, including market conditions, projects, property and ownership events, manufacturers, materials, labor, weather, regulations, technology, consolidation and the published RAN industry record.
RAN may use this external evidence to improve the shared intelligence system.
Boundary 02
Contractor context
A contractor may provide a limited profile—such as territory, systems, manufacturers, project types, priorities and watch topics—so RAN can rank shared external intelligence for that company.
This context is organization-scoped. It personalizes that contractor's experience; it does not reveal the contractor's strategy to other contractors.
Boundary 03
Private operational information
Project documents, bids, roof histories, decisions, questions, outcomes, integrations and private records remain organization-scoped.
RAN will not use private contractor content to train, enrich or improve a shared industry intelligence product unless the contractor separately and explicitly agrees to a defined contribution program. De-identification, aggregation or removal of a company name does not by itself create permission.
Boundary 04
Collective intelligence programs
Any future benchmark, cooperative dataset or collective-learning program must be separate and opt-in. The agreement must identify what is contributed, how it is transformed, who receives the result, whether contribution can be withdrawn and what the contractor receives in exchange.
No contractor is enrolled through ordinary use of RAN Intelligence.
Default controls
The default state is explicit.
| Control | Default |
|---|---|
| Shared model improvement from private content | Off |
| Cross-contractor benchmark contribution | Off |
| Collective learning contribution | Off |
| Private MCP context | Off until separately granted |
| External market intelligence | On according to plan |
| Organization-specific relevance | On for that organization only |
AI and MCP
Useful access. Narrow authority.
- RAN MCP access is read-only.
- Every token is organization-bound, expiring and revocable.
- Private-context access requires an additional approved scope and field-level grant.
- A question asked through the Desk or MCP is not permission to reuse its private content.
- Source, date, evidence class, confidence and limitations travel with results whenever available.
- AI-generated inference is labeled and is not presented as an observed fact or human decision.
Ownership and control
Who owns the value?
The contractor retains ownership of information it supplies. RAN owns its software, external-source normalization, taxonomies, entity resolution, scoring methods, editorial work and intelligence created without unapproved private contractor content.
A contractor may request an export or deletion of its private information, subject to legal, security and agreed retention obligations. Any future collective program must define the contributor's value exchange before contribution begins.
Accountability
Changes require a new version.
Material changes to this compact require a new version and effective date. A new version does not retroactively authorize a use that was prohibited when information was collected.
This compact is the RAN product and data-use commitment. Customer agreements and applicable law may add stricter obligations; they do not silently reduce these protections.
